COLONEL Muammar al Gaddafi is no more. It’s very sad, that The Big man was murdered by the NTC in his home city of Sirte on Thursday, 20th October!
It is not the death penalty violating human rights?
What the International community suggests if murderers like Gaddafi are caught red handed while committing mass killings?
Why not Gaddafi never given opportunity to face crime charges at Hague like other extraordinary dictators does?
Where is their global campaign against death penalty?
Why Gaddafi never taken to the court, particularly, The International Criminal Court of The Hague as was done for Dictators of this type: Slobodan Milosevic, Charles Taylor, Fodday Sankoh, Pierre Bemba and others?
Most of the International campaigns stands that death penalty be removed worldwide, but for the case of Colonel Gaddafi, they all decided he must be killed!
This is ‘double standards’
The “King of African Kings” was killed by his own people under the flag of the National Transition Council (NTC), on Thursday, 20 of October this year.
With the assistance of (NATO) Northern Atlantic Treaty Organization’s warplanes, Gaddafi’s regime came to an end on 24th August of 2011, when the rebels captured the Libyan capital city, Tripoli.
Gaddafi’s regime accused for brutal military junta, torture, mass killings and human rights abuse to his political opponents.
Absolutely.
Even Kaddafi’s accusers, The Americans are doing the same with Gaddafi and other brutal rulers who commit Forced labor (slavery) rape and torture for their civilians.
The United States of America, under shadowing of the Yangon junta, forced labor during the construction of the gas pipeline at Yadana, in Burma, to date is known as Myanmar.
The US giant gas company assisted the Burmese military to do what the International community out crying against. Its soldiers murdered and raped villagers.
During Sani Abacha’s regime in Nigeria, Ken Saro-Wiwa, the leader of demonstrators also assassinated.
The late Saro-Wiwa, the Writer, the activist and leader of an organization very common in Nigeria, MOSOP that opposed Abacha’s regime which assisted by the Western Oil companies to brutalize the citizen. MOSOP opposed even oil spills in the Niger Delta that time, but none wondered!
They undermines the Ogoni people requirements and allegations, and treated them like refugees in their own home land of Ogoni, situated at the Niger Delta, which is the oil-rich region in Nigeria.
But, the same mistakes committed by Western Oil Companies in Nigeria and Myanmar, to date are used by the American and Allies to overthrow Gaddafi’s regime and has murdered.
This is the ‘Double Standards’ the American and Allies used to over look, when in seek for resources and raw materials for their industries or while defending their economic interests.
ENMITY BETWEEN GADDAFI AND THE WESTERN AND ALLIES
Libya, is amongst the Major Oil exporters.
Much of the oil traders on global market produced by the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) are relying on it.
OPEC, comprised of 11 oil-producing nations that tries to use their collective production weight to influence World Oil prices. Oil prices are controversial and are the source of conflicts in the Middle East and all over the Arab World.
Libya, was amongst current members o f OPEC, while others are Algeria, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Nigeria , Qatar, Saudi Arabia, The United Arab Emirates(UAE) and Venezuela.
Russia, Canada, Mexico and Norway are the largest non-OPEC Oil exporters, while the United States is the Third largest producer, after Saudi Arabia and Russia.
My bird’s eye view here is: The Western, including France, the Britain and Italy(are the former Libyan colonies) have been tracing on the oil production and export trends, since Colonel Muammar Gaddafi ‘s came in to power in 1969.
The resource-exporting countries are highly vulnerable to violent conflicts, and the man in power ought to be very tough to prevent them for the security of his countrymen and peace. This was how Colonel Gaddafi did.
There is a casual link between natural resources and civil war which more often promoted by lustful Western countries, in order to achieve their interests.
American and Allies are key players to conflicts and ethnic wars all over African continent , even if( they tend to say) we led by Extraordinary Dictators, like Idi Amin Dada,Mobutu Sseseko, Jean-Bedel Bokassa and so on.
Let’s have a brief discussion on Libya and its oil policy which prevented the ‘SUPER MAJORS’ dictatorial and resource-lustful men of World’s oil production.
These companies were called ‘Majors’ because each was large enough to influence international oil supplies as well as the prices, operated in more than one country, and were active in virtually every stage of oil production to refining and distribution.
But, when he came to power in 1969, Colonel Gaddafi nationalized the Western Oil ‘Majors’ and made stumbling blocks to the interests of the Western.
WORLD’S MAJOR OIL COMPANIES DETAMINES WORLD’S DESTINY
The United States’ Exxon Mobil is the largest oil company which has the largest energy resource base with the net income of approximately 30 billion US Dollars year on year.
The British oil giant (BP), The Royal/Dutch Shell belonging to Britain and the Netherlands, and the TOTAL which belongs to Belgium’s and France are dictating the world’s oil trade.
Others are the American Chevron, Conoco Phillips and Texaco and the Elf which is property of the Frenchmen.
Oil production is governing the world political stability. That we can say, oil has enough to put pressure on the global economic stability or instability, especially in Africa during this time of Global economic crunch and inflation.
The Russian State House(The Kremlin),The White House, and The Number 10 Downing Street of The UK are struggling to maintain and controlling oil reserves all over the World. These are the Oil Politics.
Securing oil reserve is a tricky in countries that guard their own resources closely as were Gaddafi’s regime. The number of countries that have opened their doors to the Americans and their Allies are safe from the ongoing Arab-rich government overthrowing.
HOW WE KNOW WHAT WE KNOW ABOUT DEMOCRACY?
The American, the British, France and their Allies are to date speaks very loudly about lack of good governance, human rights abuse, absence of transparency and the lack of democracy in Africa. But, as we all know, they never walk on what they talk-to ‘walk the talk’.
Is there any public awareness on Petroleum contracts, licensing, joint ventures and production-sharing agreements?
Of course Not!
Common citizens in major oil production countries, even in other resource-rich countries (as we in Tanzania) are not aware of what the government gathers by taxations and royalties from the investors.
Contracts and agreements are top secrets!
For other words, citizens in those resource-rich countries have no rights to know how and what their governments reap from their natural resources and economic opportunities. Contracts and agreements are Top Secrets.
According to the Major Western Countries, when there is no transparency, there is no democracy. Now where the agreements is between the governments and the investors from the Western, and people never access to what’s inside the agreements, contracts and joint ventures, so what is this kind of democracy by the way?
When the negotiations between Government officials and investors from the West are uncertainty; that is how they protect themselves against POSSIBLE LOSSES.
In such conditions, may be the contracts are for the benefit of the crook officials or for the Western Company owners, but not for the interests of the people of Africa. Terms of the concession agreement never made known or published.
Gaddafi disagreed, those tricky contracts and economic sabotage strategies from the West. So he became The Western’s number one foe and enemy; and that is why they begin to lay prey on him.
DID GADDAFI SUPPORT TERRORISM?
I never see a real democracy in the eye brows of the British, The French, the American and their NATO allied forces, but mass destruction and swindling for the benefit of their sons and daughters.
If democracy is participation of majority, why citizens are prevented to know inside the oil contracts and agreements? Probably, this is the government of the few by the few for the few for the benefit of their friends, the investors from the West.
According to the former US President, Abraham Lincoln (1857-1865), democracy means Government of the people by the people for the people, so why mass destruction weapons and warplanes bombings in Libya?
Why eye to an eye instead of peace talk and cease fire resolutions as recommended by the United Nations Security Council?
So why then ‘No Fly Zone’ and bombing in Libya in a place of conflict resolution? Why warplanes bombings instead of the rule of law?
Where are American human rights at the mass killings in Libya, bombings, human rights abuse during that time of war?
We all know that Libya falsely reportedly helped arm violent revolutionary groups in Egypt and Sudan, and they insisted that Gaddafi aided terrorists of various nationalism.
Likewise, the Americans aided rebels in Congo, as well as in Angola during the life of Jonas Savimbi. We currently witnessed American and Allies support to the rebels in Benghazi against Gaddafi.
Libya and Egypt fought several air and land battles along their boarder I n July 1977, but to date, neither Libya nor Egypt is making her own decision without the Western influence.
On January 7th in 1986 the US imposed economic sanctions against Libya; ordered all American to leave that country and they froze all Libyan assets.
Gaddafi, one time emphasized the United States of Africa (USA in Africa?) in order to create political and economical stability in the continent.
From there, the former US President, George Bush listed Libya along the ‘Axis of Evil’ that means people wanted to be killed at any cost.
The American commenced flight operations over the Gulf of Sidra ; On January 27 in 1986 when the Libyan fired Missiles at American warplanes in order to defend themselves.
The US accused Gaddafi of ordering the April 5, 1986 bombing of West Berlin discotheque which killed three, Including a US serviceman.
In response, the US sent warplanes to attract related targets in Tripoli and Benghazi on April 14, 1986. Gaddafi escaped during that time, when one of his step sons was killed.
April 15th of 1992 the United Nations imposed limited sanctions for Libya’s failure to extradite two agents linked to the 1988 bombing of Pan American World Airways (Pan Am) Flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland and four others linked to an air plane bombing in Niger.
Sanctions were frightened December 1st in 1993 until the International embargo ended.
April 5th, 1999 Libya handed over two Lockerbie suspects for TRIAL in the Netherlands, under Scottish law.
One of the two defendants, a Libyan Intelligence official, Abdel Basset Ali al-Megrahi was convicted of murder on January 31st of 2001, but surprisingly al-Megrahi was released, and he is still enjoying outside the life sentence imprisonment in Tripoli.
